  • 375g (3 cups) All-purpose flour
  • 100g (1/2 cup) Sugar
  • 1 tsp Active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 240ml (1 cup) Warm water
  • for frying Vegetable oil

Method

  1. Mix the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Gradually add the warm water and knead into a soft, slightly sticky dough.
  3. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and pinch off small pieces, rolling each into a ball.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pot to 170°C (340°F).
  6. Fry the dough balls in batches for 3 to 4 minutes, turning occasionally, until deep golden and cooked through.
  7. Drain on paper towels and serve warm.
