- - 700ml (3 cups) water, divided

- - 1/2 tsp black pepper

- Add the cooked beans along with a little of their cooking liquid, plus the remaining 200ml water.
- Season with salt and pepper and simmer uncovered for 10-12 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly and coats the beans.
