  2. In a separate pan, heat the oil and sauté the onion until softened, about 4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the tomatoes and tomato paste and cook for 4-5 minutes until softened.
  4. Add the cooked beans along with a little of their cooking liquid, plus the remaining 200ml water.
  5. Season with salt and pepper and simmer uncovered for 10-12 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly and coats the beans.
  6. Serve warm as a side to rice, boule or bread.
