Ingredients
- 375g (3 cups) All-purpose flour
- 100g (1/2 cup) Sugar
- 1 tsp Active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 240ml (1 cup) Warm water
- for frying Vegetable oil
Method
- Mix the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl.
- Gradually add the warm water and knead into a soft, slightly sticky dough.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and pinch off small pieces, rolling each into a ball.
- Heat oil in a deep pot to 170°C (340°F).
- Fry the dough balls in batches for 3 to 4 minutes, turning occasionally, until deep golden and cooked through.
- Drain on paper towels and serve warm.
