Middle East
Ayran/Doogh Whisk
Turkey, Iran, and the wider Middle East

A simple wire or wooden whisk used to blend yogurt, water, and salt (and sometimes dried mint) into the smooth, frothy yogurt drink served across the region under various names.
Material & Construction
A small wire balloon whisk or a simple forked wooden stick, sized for a pitcher rather than a large mixing bowl.
Traditional Uses
Vigorously blending diluted yogurt until smooth and lightly frothy immediately before serving, since the drink separates if left to stand.
Modern Availability / Equivalents
A standard kitchen whisk, milk frother, or blender all serve the same purpose and have largely replaced the dedicated wooden version in most households.
Care & Maintenance
Rinse promptly after use, since dried yogurt residue on wire whisks is difficult to fully remove from the tight loops.
