Chez Mal Belfast

01 The Arrival

Chez Mal has a really glamorous hotel-brasserie feel. The plush seating, stylish lighting and cocktail-bar atmosphere make it feel like somewhere I'd dress up slightly for.

02 The Food

I had chicken supreme with fries and vegetables, sharing truffle fries to start and finishing with a chocolate dessert. The chicken was juicy and nicely cooked, while the truffle fries were my favourite thing on the table - crispy, salty and wonderfully indulgent.

03 The Experience

Very polished and attentive service, the sort you'd expect from a good hotel restaurant. The plush booths and sophisticated bar make it feel particularly good for an evening out.

04 Was It Worth It?

Fair, although you're paying for the setting and experience as well as the food.

05 The Verdict

Stylish interior, excellent service, good cocktails and comfortable seating, though more expensive than a casual Belfast restaurant. A good choice when you want something a little smarter without going into fine dining territory.
