Restaurant Review
Captains Fish & Chips
An easy, satisfying seaside fish and chips stop.
01 The Arrival
You cannot really beat Brighton seafront for fish and chips - Captains has that classic seaside atmosphere, with the beach practically on the doorstep and the smell of fried fish impossible to walk past.
02 The Food
Cod and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce, plus calamari to share. The cod was flaky and moist beneath a crisp golden batter, the chips were chunky and fluffy, and the calamari was surprisingly tender rather than chewy.
03 The Experience
Service was quick, friendly and efficient - exactly what is wanted from a casual seaside fish-and-chip spot. Very Brighton: casual, lively and perfect before heading down to the seafront.
04 Was It Worth It?
Good value - portions are generous enough to make it a satisfying meal rather than just a snack.
05 The Verdict
Great location, crisp batter and generous portions, though it can get busy at peak times. A straightforward recommendation for classic Brighton fish and chips.
