Description: A 19th-century American classic — sherry, a touch of sugar, and plenty of crushed ice, one of the most historically significant cobblers.

Cultural Background: Enormously popular in the mid-1800s US, credited with helping introduce sherry to American drinkers and popularise both crushed ice and the drinking straw in cocktails.

Tips: Crushed ice is essential — it dilutes gently and keeps the drink very cold throughout a long sip.

Variations: Fresh berries or peach slices make excellent seasonal garnish substitutions.

Serving Suggestion: Serve over crushed ice, with a straw, garnished generously with fruit.
