Ingredients

  • Minced meat (beef or pork) — 300 g (10 oz)
  • Cabbage, finely shredded — 100 g (3.5 oz)
  • Carrot, grated — 1
  • Spring Onions, chopped — 2
  • Garlic, minced — 2 cloves
  • Soy sauce — 1 tsp
  • Salt and black pepper, — to taste
  • Spring Roll wrappers — 20
  • Egg, beaten, for sealing — 1
  • Oil for frying

Method

  1. Combine the minced meat, cabbage, carrot, spring onions, garlic, soy sauce, salt and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Place a spoonful of filling near one edge of each spring roll wrapper.
  3. Roll tightly, folding in the sides, and seal the edge with beaten egg.
  4. Heat oil for frying in a deep pan to 175°C (345°F).
  5. Fry the nems in batches for 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally, until deeply golden and crisp.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
