Ingredients
- 50g Flahavan's porridge oats (or standard rolled oats)
- 150ml whole milk
- 150ml water
- A tiny pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp raw Irish heather honey
- 1 tbsp smooth Irish whiskey (like Jameson)
- Optional: A handful of fresh blackberries or toasted flaked almonds
Method
- In a medium saucepan, combine the porridge oats, whole milk, water, and a tiny pinch of salt.
- Place over medium heat and bring to a gentle boil, stirring continuously with a wooden spoon or a traditional spirtle.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer softly for 5-6 minutes, stirring frequently, until the oatmeal transforms into a thick, ultra-creamy consistency.
- Pour the hot porridge into a deep serving bowl.
- In a tiny glass, stir the honey and Irish whiskey together until fluid, then drizzle it evenly across the surface of the hot oats. Top with fresh berries or flaked almonds if using.
