Date Knife
Arabian Peninsula and the wider date-growing Middle East

A small, often slightly curved knife used to slice open or halve fresh and dried dates by hand, distinct from the mechanical pitting tool used for bulk processing.
Material & Construction
A short steel blade, sometimes gently curved, set into a simple handle sized for fine, controlled cuts on a small fruit.
Traditional Uses
Slicing dates open lengthwise to remove the pit by hand, or halving them for stuffing with nuts, cheese, or other fillings.
Modern Availability / Equivalents
Any small paring knife serves the same function; dedicated date knives are mainly sold in Middle Eastern specialty kitchenware shops.
Care & Maintenance
Rinse and dry; sticky date residue should not be left to dry on the blade.
