The Chipper-Style Garlic Cheese Chip

Ingredients

  • 250g frozen thick-cut chips
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp milk (to thin slightly)
  • 75g mature Irish white cheddar, finely grated
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Method

  1. Cook the chips in the air fryer or oven at 200°C according to the packet instructions until deeply golden and extra crispy.
  2. While the chips are cooking, make the garlic sauce by mixing the mayonnaise, minced garlic, a pinch of salt, and a splash of milk in a small bowl until smooth.
  3. Pile the scorching hot chips onto a serving plate or tray.
  4. Drizzle the garlic mayo heavily over the hot chips, then immediately smother them with the grated white cheddar so it melts instantly into the sauce.

An absolute late-night Irish takeaway staple recreated at home in minutes. Hot, crispy oven or air-fried chips completely smothered in garlic mayonnaise and grated mature Irish white cheddar.
