Maabar (Tea Glass Tongs)
Iran, Turkey, and the Caucasus

Small tongs used to lift very hot, handle-less tea glasses (often held in an ornate metal holder) without burning the fingers, common in households and traditional tea houses.
Material & Construction
Lightweight metal, often decoratively worked to match the tea service, shaped to grip the narrow waist of a tulip-shaped glass securely.
Traditional Uses
Handling small, hot glass tea cups that have no handle of their own, particularly when serving guests or moving several glasses at once.
Modern Availability / Equivalents
A metal tea-glass holder with its own handle (zarf) has largely replaced the need for separate tongs in many households; both are still sold as traditional tea-service items.
Care & Maintenance
Wipe clean; no special maintenance beyond avoiding drops, since decorative metalwork can bend out of shape.
