Turkish Coffee Foam Spoon

Turkey and the wider Ottoman-influenced region

A very small spoon used to lift and distribute the prized foam (köpük) from the top of a freshly brewed cezve into each individual coffee cup before pouring the rest.

Material & Construction

Typically brass, copper, or silver-plated, matching the cezve pot it is used alongside, with a shallow, narrow bowl sized for foam rather than liquid.

Traditional Uses

Carefully spooning foam into each cup first, since foam quality is considered a mark of a well-made coffee and unevenly distributed foam is seen as a serving flaw.

Modern Availability / Equivalents

Any small teaspoon can substitute; dedicated matching sets are sold with traditional cezve coffee pots as part of a full serving set.

Care & Maintenance

Hand-wash gently; plated versions should be dried immediately to prevent tarnish spotting.
