Qidr (Large Communal Cooking Pot)
Levant, especially Jordan and Palestine

A very large metal pot used for communal cooking, particularly associated with mansaf and other large-format celebratory dishes prepared for weddings and gatherings.
Material & Construction
Heavy-gauge aluminum or stainless steel, sized well beyond typical household cookware to serve dozens of guests at once.
Traditional Uses
Cooking mansaf and other large-batch celebratory dishes; often used outdoors over a large open flame given the pot's size.
Modern Availability / Equivalents
Rented or communally owned in many communities rather than individually purchased, given the scale and infrequency of use; smaller stockpots serve the same function at home-cooking scale.
Care & Maintenance
Clean thoroughly after use; given the size, drying and storage require dedicated space, and many communities keep a shared qidr for collective use rather than individual ownership.
