Introduction: A creamy, nutrient-rich punch made from softened sea moss blended with milk, spices and vanilla.
Cultural Background: Sea moss, a type of edible seaweed harvested along Caribbean coastlines, has long been valued in Saint Kitts and Nevis both as food and folk remedy. Blended into a thick, creamy punch, it is a traditional health tonic enjoyed by all ages.
Tips: Soak the sea moss for a full 24 hours if very tough, changing the water once. Strain thoroughly to achieve a smooth, drinkable texture.
Variations: Add a spoonful of peanut butter for a richer, nuttier version known locally as 'sea moss and peanut punch'; use plant-based milk for a fully vegan drink.
Storage: Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, shaking well before serving as it may separate.
Reheating: This drink is served cold and is not reheated.
