Description: The world's most popular tequila cocktail — tequila, orange liqueur and lime, balanced across countless proportions and legends.
Cultural Background: Origin stories are numerous and disputed, most placing its creation in Mexico or the US-Mexico border region in the 1930s-40s; cocktail historians link it to the older Brandy Daisy family.
Tips: Use 100% agave tequila — mixto tequilas (partially made from other sugars) give a noticeably harsher result.
Variations: Blend with ice and fresh fruit (strawberry, mango) for a frozen Margarita.
Serving Suggestion: Serve over ice or up, with or without a salt rim as preferred.
Nutrition: Approx. 180 kcal per serving
FAQs:
Q: Where does the name come from?
A: Several competing legends exist; none is definitively confirmed, and "Margarita" simply means "daisy" in Spanish, echoing the drink's Daisy-family roots.
