Description: A strong, gin-forward Martini variant with a touch of vodka and Lillet, made famous by Ian Fleming's James Bond.

Cultural Background: Introduced in Fleming's 1953 novel Casino Royale, where Bond names it after love interest Vesper Lynd.

Tips: Kina Lillet, the original 1950s aperitif wine, is no longer produced — modern Lillet Blanc is the standard substitute.

Variations: Bond specifies shaking, unusually for a spirit-forward drink; stirring gives a clearer, silkier result if preferred.

Serving Suggestion: Serve up, very cold, in a well-chilled glass.

Nutrition: Approx. 195 kcal per serving

FAQs:

Q: Shaken or stirred?
A: The novel specifies shaken, though most bartenders today would stir a drink this spirit-forward.
