Description: A simple hot whiskey drink long used as a comfort remedy for cold weather or the early symptoms of a cold.
Cultural Background: Toddies date back centuries, with roots in both the British Isles and colonial-era India, where the word "toddy" originally referred to a fermented palm-sap drink.
Tips: Use water that's hot but not boiling — boiling water can scorch the honey's flavor and dull the whiskey's aroma.
Variations: Add a slice of fresh ginger for extra warmth and a little heat.
Serving Suggestion: Serve immediately while hot, ideally in a glass or mug that retains heat well.
Nutrition: Approx. 140 kcal per serving
FAQs:
Q: Does it actually help a cold?
A: It won't cure anything, but the warmth, honey and steam can soothe a sore throat and congestion.
