Ingredients

  • 1.2 kg (2.6 lb) bone-in chicken thighs and drumsticks
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 3 tbsp lard or oil
  • 2 1/2 tbsp sweet paprika
  • 1 red pepper, chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 300 ml (1 1/4 cups) chicken stock
  • 250 ml (1 cup) sour cream
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • Salt, to taste

Method

  1. Brown chicken pieces lightly in lard; set aside.
  2. Soften onions in the same pot; remove from heat and stir in paprika.
  3. Return chicken to the pot with pepper, tomato and stock.
  4. Cover and simmer 35-40 minutes until the chicken is tender.
  5. Whisk sour cream with flour and a ladle of hot cooking liquid, then stir back into the pot.
  6. Simmer 5 more minutes to thicken, season with salt and serve with nokedli.
