Cafe Red

A tiny, no-nonsense Belfast cafe with a brilliant, excellent-value Ulster fry.

01 The Arrival

Cafe Red is tiny, cosy and wonderfully no-nonsense. This isn't somewhere I'd come expecting fancy decor - it's all about sitting down, getting a proper Belfast breakfast and leaving very happy.

02 The Food

I went for a mini Ulster fry, with eggs, bacon, sausages, soda bread and potato bread, plus coffee. This is proper cafe food and it does exactly what it needs to do - everything was hot, satisfying and generously portioned. The soda and potato bread were particularly good.

03 The Experience

Really friendly and impressively quick service - exactly the sort of place where you can pop in for breakfast without losing half your morning. It's small, cosy and busy, with that classic Belfast cafe feeling that is increasingly hard to find.

04 Was It Worth It?

Excellent. This is probably the best-value meal in this particular batch.

05 The Verdict

Brilliant breakfast, friendly service, excellent value and a proper Belfast cafe atmosphere, though it's small so finding a seat can take some patience. A winner if you want an authentic Belfast cafe breakfast.
