Restaurant Review
English’s of Brighton
Particularly recommended for a special occasion or seafood-focused dinner.
01 The Arrival
English's has an elegant seafood-restaurant atmosphere that feels very Brighton - polished and traditional, but not so formal it feels uncomfortable.
02 The Food
Fresh oysters followed by line-caught fish with butter and lemon, plus king scallops and chunky chips to share. The oysters were fresh and briny, the scallops had a gorgeous caramelised surface, and the fish was beautifully simple - seasoned and roasted with butter, lemon and olive oil.
03 The Experience
Service was very polished and professional, with the feeling of somewhere that takes its food seriously. Elegant without being intimidating, with a lovely old-Brighton feeling.
04 Was It Worth It?
A special-occasion restaurant - prices reflect the quality of the seafood, not somewhere for a cheap lunch.
05 The Verdict
Beautiful seafood, elegant atmosphere and excellent service in a fantastic location, though it is expensive. Ideal for anyone who loves seafood and wants a more traditional restaurant experience.
