01 The Arrival

Halisco has a colourful, lively Mexican atmosphere, and the menu makes clear straight away this is not just another place doing generic nachos and burritos.

02 The Food

Birria tacos, guacamole, elote and a side of Mexican rice. The birria tacos were the highlight - tender, richly spiced beef, even better dipped into the consomme - while the guacamole was fresh and zesty and the elote brought sweetness, creaminess and a little chilli.

03 The Experience

Staff were friendly and relaxed, happy to make recommendations. The atmosphere is bright, casual and lively - a great choice for a fun meal with friends.

04 Was It Worth It?

Very good value - there is enough food to feel substantial without the bill getting silly.

05 The Verdict

Excellent birria, fresh guacamole, lively atmosphere and good portions, though it can feel quite energetic when busy. A great choice for proper Mexican flavour and variety.
