First Impressions

Mermaid Quay is all about the waterfront - wide pedestrian areas, restaurants, bars, shops, boats, water views and the Wales Millennium Centre nearby. It feels much more like a holiday destination than the middle of a Welsh capital.

The Scenery

The waterfront brings together Cardiff Bay, the Wales Millennium Centre, the Pierhead and views out towards the Bay Barrage.

What You'll See

Cardiff Bay, waterfront buildings, boats, the Wales Millennium Centre, the Pierhead, the Norwegian Church nearby and the Bay Barrage in the distance.

Best Photo Opportunities

The waterfront promenade, the Millennium Centre, boats at sunset, the Pierhead and reflections across the water.

Seasonal Appeal

Summer evenings are gorgeous, particularly around sunset - Christmas also gives the waterfront a lovely atmosphere.

Sounds & Surroundings

Water, gulls, conversations and restaurant terraces create a very pleasant waterfront soundtrack.

Getting There

Bay trains and buses make it easy to reach, with several car parks serving Cardiff Bay.

Would I Visit Again?

Yes - I'd particularly come back for dinner and a sunset walk.

Final Verdict

Mermaid Quay is a worthwhile stop because it combines Cardiff's waterfront scenery with food, entertainment and plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view.
