Bute Park

First Impressions

Bute Park feels enormous when you first start walking through it - the River Taff, huge lawns, mature trees, beautiful paths and Cardiff Castle nearby. It was exactly what I needed after wandering around the city centre, and it feels peaceful almost immediately.

The Scenery

The park covers around 56 hectares and includes riverside routes, an arboretum, horticultural features and a sculpture trail.

What You'll See

The River Taff, woodland, an arboretum, historic trees, gardens, sculptures and views of Cardiff Castle.

Best Photo Opportunities

The River Taff, Cardiff Castle from the park, the flower gardens, tree-lined paths and the sculpture trail.

Seasonal Appeal

Spring is gorgeous, summer is perfect for picnics and autumn gives the park some amazing colours.

Sounds & Surroundings

Birds, cyclists, dogs, the river and occasional city noise create a lovely balance between nature and city life.

Getting There

Very easy from central Cardiff, with limited parking around the edges.

Would I Visit Again?

Absolutely - it's perfect for slowing down for an hour or two.

Bute Park is a must-visit destination because it gives Cardiff a huge, beautiful green heart right beside the city centre.
