Afrikana

Afrikana is colourful, lively and immediately makes you hungry, with grilled meat and spices in the air and a menu that makes you want to order three times more than you can eat. The chicken was juicy with a lovely char and a proper kick, the jollof was rich and savoury, and the plantain was sweet enough to balance the spice. It combines African-inspired flavours with peri-peri grilling rather than representing one single national cuisine - jollof has West African roots, while peri-peri has strong Lusophone African associations, particularly with Mozambique.
